NROTC Liaison Initiative

NSL Advisory Council member CMDCM(SS/AW/SW) Jesse Cook, USN (Ret) mentoring NROTC MIDN after the awards ceremony that honored MIDN Sean Berres with the 2025 NSL RADM Frederick B. Warder Award for Outstanding Achievement on 26 April at the Texas A&M Maritime Academy Galveston.
NSL Aloha Chapter President, CAPT Pete Miller, USN (Ret) hosted a dinner in Salt Lake City for the Sub Club of the University of Utah NROTC. Fifteen future sub/nuke MIDN joined for sea stories and cribbage lessons.

The NSL has recently launched a pilot of our NROTC Liaison Initiative. We are recruiting NSL members with submarine experience to volunteer to share their journey into the submarine force, sea stories, and why the submarine force is/was such a great community for them. Possible activities could be as informal as a pizza dinner or more structured such as interview prep. Virtual meetings are also an option.

The NSL also invites members to present awards during NROTC award ceremonies. Each awardee has demonstrated superior, sustained performance in a difficult and challenging academic and operational environment and, as a result, has earned his or her Commanding Officer’s nomination for this distinctive award.
