SUPPORTING THE SUBMARINE FORCE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF THE UNDERSEA TO THE NATIONAL DEFENSE

On 9 February 2026, NSL member RADM Douglas Adams assumed leadership of the AUKUS Integration and Acquisition (I&A) Direct Reporting Program Management Office. In addition to his role as AUKUS I&A Director, Adams will continue to serve as Program Executive Officer for Undersea Warfare Systems.
The AUKUS I&A program office, within the Department of the Navy, is responsible for executing the trilateral partnership to help Australia acquire conventionally armed, nuclear-powered attack submarines while setting the highest nuclear stewardship standards and continuing to maintain the highest nonproliferation standard.
