Sail of ex-Buffalo (SSN 715) Installed at the IALR campus 10 April 2026

The sail from the decommissioned Los Angeles-class submarine ex-Buffalo (SSN 715) has been installed at the The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) campus in Danville, VA, adjacent to the ATDM Maritime Training Center. This landmark aims to serve as both a memorial and an educational monument, commemorating the vessel’s service. The installation highlights the partnership between the U.S. Navy and The IALR.
